'Breathing,' 'Michael' among EFA Discovery noms
BERLIN -- Two Austrian photos are probably the noms for that European Film Academy's Discovery Award, which recognizes the job of up-and-coming company directors. Karl Markovics' feature film debut "Breathing," in regards to a youthful ex-disadvantage who sets to discover the mother he never understood while working in the Vienna municipal morgue, can also be Austria's candidate for that foreign-language Oscar, and it has already acquired numerous honours, such as the Europa Movie theaters Label in Directors' Week at Cannes and also the Sarajevo Film Festival's top prize. Markus Schleinzer's "Michael," which opened within the primary competition in Cannes, focuses on a child molester who looks after a 10-year-old boy located in his basement. Also competing for that award are Hendes Van Nuffel's Belgian-Nederlander co-production "Oxygen," in regards to a teen with cystic fibrosis who rebels against his condition Mikkel Munch-Fals' Danish drama "Nothing's All Bad," which explores the loneliness and sexuality of 4 people whose tales intersect and Nikola Lezaic's Serbian slacker pic "Tilva Ros," about several skateboarding teens inside a town struggling with economic difficulty.
