Black and White Movie About a Body Snatcher/Resurrectionist?

I saw this movie on the Turner Classic Movie (TMC) channel back in
December 2010 or January/February of 2011. I forgot to write the name
down, and I'd like some help if you know the name or know a resource
to find the name. I've been trying to find it on the TMC website and
failing. I can't remember the exact decade it was done in so the lists
on Wikipedia have been more frustrating than helpful.

The basic jist of the movie is about a doctor (I'm guessing somewhere
in his 20s or very early 30s) during the 1800th century on the Eastern
Coast of the US has been digging up bodies to dissect them. The movie
opens up with our doctor about to be hanged for desecration of the
dead. However, he gets kidnapped by a gang of thieves to help nurse
their leader back to health. I believe the leader had a broken leg,
but I'm not entirely sure. The doctor is successful at healing him and
the leader decides that he is to stay with him as his personal doctor,
which the doctor doesn't want to do but is threatened into it anyway.

The movie then surrounds the doctor traveling with the gang, him
running away, being found again, living in a small town and continuing
his work, and eventually being found out again that he is a body
snatcher but then saving a young lady's life through surgery while the
gang he had been with fights off angry villagers so he can work.

Oh, this is NOT a silent film.

It's a pretty funny movie, and I would recommend it to anyone who
enjoys films. Though, since I can't remember the name, I can't. ;)

I hope that's enough information to go off of.
